Overgrown field before and after bush hogging

Waymire Farms Tractor Services

Bush Hogging & Field Clearing

Whether your fence line has gotten away from you or your back pasture hasn't seen a mower in years, we can knock it back down to size — quickly, cleanly, and at a price that makes sense for a residential or small-acreage property.

Who we work with

Bush hogging requests come from two directions — people dealing with overgrown property that needs a one-time reset, and landowners who want to keep fields and pastures maintained on a regular basis. We handle both.

Lot Clearing

Overgrown lots & property cleanup

Reclaiming neglected lots, clearing fence lines, prepping land for sale or development, and one-time cleanup jobs where brush and weeds have taken over.

Field Maintenance

Pasture & field upkeep

Seasonal mowing of pastures, hayfields, food plot perimeters, and rural property. Keeps growth controlled, reduces pest habitat, and maintains property value.

"Most overgrown properties aren't as far gone as they look. A few passes with the right cutter changes everything."

How the process works

We run a 4-foot rotary cutter on the John Deere 1025R — well matched to residential lots, fence lines, and smaller field sections. Here's what a typical job looks like:

1
Walk the property first. Before the cutter drops, we walk the area with you to flag any hidden obstacles — stumps, rocks, wire, debris, or soft ground that could cause problems. This protects both your property and our equipment.
2
Confirm what you want cut and what stays. Saplings, shrubs, or specific areas you want left untouched — we talk through it before we start so there are no surprises.
3
Make systematic passes. We work in overlapping passes to ensure even coverage. Heavily overgrown areas may need a slower first pass to avoid bogging the cutter before a cleanup pass at normal speed.
4
Walk it with you when done. We do a final check together before we load up — if something got missed or needs another pass, we take care of it before we leave.

What our equipment handles

We're upfront about what our setup is built for. The 4-foot rotary cutter on a subcompact tractor is the right tool for a wide range of residential and small-acreage jobs — and not the right tool for everything. Here's an honest breakdown:

Equipment capability at a glance

Handles well

  • Grass, weeds, and brush up to waist height
  • Saplings up to approximately 1.5 inches diameter
  • Fence lines and field edges
  • Residential lots and small acreage
  • Food plot perimeters and access paths
  • Overgrown garden areas

Not the right fit

  • Trees or woody growth over 1.5 inches diameter
  • Large multi-acre commercial fields
  • Heavy brush piles or slash
  • Ground with significant hidden rock or debris

If your job falls outside what our equipment can handle well, we'll tell you upfront rather than take it on and do it poorly. No wasted trips, no surprises on the invoice.

Why Waymire Farms

Right-sized for the job

Residential and small-acreage properties don't need a commercial-scale crew. Our setup is precise, maneuverable in tight spaces, and priced for the jobs we're actually built to do.

Honest scope every time

We'd rather pass on a job that isn't a good fit than take it on and do it wrong. If we can't handle it well, we'll say so and point you in the right direction.

Local and reliable

Based in Madison County, serving Madison, Hamilton, and Delaware counties. We show up when we say we will and we finish what we start.

Before & after documentation

We photograph every job before we start and after we finish — useful for your records, and it keeps us both accountable for the agreed scope of work.

Is this the right service for your property?

Bush hogging is a great fit for properties with overgrown grass, weeds, light brush, and scattered saplings on relatively flat to gently rolling ground. If your property has significant woody growth, dense tree canopy encroachment, or terrain that would be difficult for a subcompact tractor to navigate safely, reach out first and describe what you're working with — we'll give you a straight answer on whether we're the right crew for the job.
